More than a package

A transformative journey to Makkah and Madinah, travelling as one Arkanum group. In Makkah you perform Tawaf around the Kaaba, walk between Safa and Marwah, and pray at Masjid al-Haram. In Madinah, the Prophet's Mosque, the Rawdah, Jabal Uhud and Masjid Quba.

Worship with context

Bilingual leaders travel with the group the whole way, so Tawaf and Sa'i are understood rather than simply performed, whether or not you have done this before.

A group you would actually choose

One Arkanum group, 18 and over: college students and young professionals moving together from Makkah to Madinah, not a coach of strangers.

Nine days, over the winter break

Masjid al-Haram, the Prophet's Mosque and the Rawdah, Jabal al-Nur, Uhud and Quba, with the days built around prayer rather than fitted around it. It fits between semesters.

“My first trip with Arkanum and truly an unforgettable experience. The Umrah was amazing and Medina is super calm and surreal. Met a bunch of people that i consider family now after only seeing each other for a week. Highly recommended for anyone to experience”
Abdurahman Fakhry · ARK of Faith: Umrah · Read on Google
“I recently performed my first international Trip with Arkanum to Umrah, and I can confidently say that I will continue to work with them in the future Inshallah. Our trip featured an excellent program that allowed for a comprehensive discussion of religion in a digestible and collaborative manner. …”

Questions people ask

The ones that come up on every trip, answered with specifics rather than reassurance.

Who travels with the group?6 to 8 mentors per groupRoughly one per six travellersBilingual throughout

Between six and eight trained leaders travel with every group, roughly one for every six travellers, and both trip leaders are with you the whole way. They are bilingual, so Tawaf and Sa'i are explained as you go rather than left to you to work out. Every one of them has led a trip before this one.

The people who run Arkanum
Who do I share a room with?Single-gender roomingShared occupancyOne price, whichever room

Rooming is single-gender throughout, and rooms are shared. There is one package on this trip and one price, so the room you are in does not change what you pay. Both hotels are booked, inspected in advance and named on this page before you pay anything.

What does the price actually cover?Return flightsHotels in both citiesGround transport and programming

One price covers getting there, staying there, moving around and being looked after: return flights, accommodation in Makkah and Madinah, ground transport and the programme itself. There is nothing else to pay Arkanum.

How much time do I need to take off?9 days, 5–13 JanuaryFlights are part of the nineBetween semesters

Nine days door to door, 5 to 13 January 2027, with the flights inside that rather than added to it. It sits in the winter break for most academic calendars, which is the point of running it in January.

What happens if something goes wrong?A written plan for every stopTravel health insurance requiredA leader reachable 24 hours

Every trip carries a written emergency plan with local hospital details for each stop. Travel health insurance is required, around $25 if you are not already covered. A leader is reachable 24 hours a day for the length of the trip.

Is the food halal?Halal or vegetarian throughoutBreakfast and dinner arrangedPrayer times set the day

Breakfast and dinner are arranged by the group and are halal or vegetarian throughout. Prayer times are built into the daily schedule rather than fitted around it.
